Is PDF Export deprecated ?

Lou
In my opinion, eZpublish developers should have come up with a replacement instead of simply "deprecating" all of these functions. Even if we all know these functions shouldn't be used, we are forced to use them still.
Or is the whole concept of exporting to PDF deprecated ?
I sincerely hope for an explanation from eZpublish.
